MISSION STATEMENT
The Himig Singers shall dedicate themselves to the pursuit of professionalism and excellence in choral performance, with the goal of showcasing the Filipino’s innate musicality and artistry, thereby enhancing the musical and cultural consciousness of the community which they serve.
ESTABLISHED
September, 1988; by a small group of college freshmen who had belonged to a high school choir called the Singing Teens. Their leader was Rey Alan Lacuin, who is now in Vienna pursuing a career as a classical singer and choir conductor.
MEMBERSHIP
Varies in number from 16 to 30 members, ages 17-35. Many are either college students or new college graduates, while some are teachers and blue collar employees. The majority come from economically underprivileged families.
