This photo was taken during our third concert in 4 months at Farmer Memorial Baptist Church in downtown Toronto. I remember that night because we had to drive through some nasty winter weather, which our trusty old Ford Econoline 11-seater didn’t particularly relish. We got to the church just a half hour before the concert, so there was a chaotic scene at our cramped dressing room.
Singing at that church, though, had always been a pleasant experience and this time was no different. The acoustics are as warm and resonant as the interior colors are, and we had no need for our choir microphones. I think the song we are singing in the photo is “When The Holy Ghost Shows Up”, a jazzy tune singing about our need of the Holy Spirit when we come together to worship.
